Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Gastric sleeve surgery, also known as sleeve gastrectomy, is a bariatric procedure that reshapes the stomach into a narrow, tube-like structure.
Unlike the stomach’s natural sac-like form, this new shape limits food intake by significantly reducing stomach volume. During the procedure, a large portion of the stomach is removed without inserting any foreign objects into the body.
In addition to its mechanical effect, the surgery also influences the production of hunger-related hormones, helping to reduce appetite and promote long-term weight loss.
As a result, gastric sleeve surgery provides both mechanical and hormonal benefits, supporting sustainable weight management and an overall healthier lifestyle.
Gastric Balloon
Bariatric surgical procedures, such as gastric sleeve and gastric bypass, are highly effective in supporting sustainable weight loss.
However, for patients who are not suitable candidates for surgery or prefer a non-surgical approach, endoscopic methods offer a valuable alternative.
One of the most common of these methods is the gastric balloon procedure.
During this minimally invasive treatment, a soft balloon is placed inside the stomach via an endoscope through the mouth and then inflated to reduce stomach volume.
This process helps decrease appetite, limits food intake, and promotes more frequent but smaller meals.
Because the procedure is reversible, the balloon can be easily removed after 6 to 12 months, allowing patients to continue their weight management journey safely and comfortably.
Gastric Bypass
Laparoscopic gastric bypass (R-YGB) is one of the most effective surgical methods for the treatment of obesity. In this procedure, the stomach’s volume is reduced, and a section of the small intestine is rerouted to limit calorie and nutrient absorption. A small pouch is created from the upper part of the stomach and connected directly to the small intestine, enabling patients to feel full after eating smaller portions. This alteration also reduces the absorption of high-calorie foods, promoting significant and sustained weight loss. In certain cases, the procedure can be reversed if medically necessary.
